Terms & Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-30

These terms govern the use of and purchases from the Mehudar Jerusalem website, and include our privacy policy. Please read them carefully before placing an order. Making a purchase on the site constitutes acceptance of the terms set out here.

Part I — Terms of Use and Purchase

1. General

This site is operated by Mehudar Leather, Art & Judaica Ltd. ("the Company", "we"), which manufactures and sells handmade leather Judaica from Jerusalem.

These terms are written in the masculine form in the Hebrew original for convenience only and apply equally to all users.

Purchases may be made by persons aged 18 or over who have legal capacity and a valid payment card. A purchase by anyone under 18 requires the consent of a parent or guardian.

Wherever these terms refer to an "order", this means an order completed on the site for which payment has been approved, unless stated otherwise.

2. Products and information on the site

Most products on the site are handmade leather goods, produced one at a time in our workshop. Slight variation in shade, texture and finish between items, and between an item and the photograph shown on the site, is therefore to be expected. Such variation is inherent to natural leather and is not considered a defect.

Product photographs are illustrative. Leather shades may appear different on different screens and under different lighting.

We make every effort to keep the information on the site accurate and current. Nevertheless, typographical errors or inaccuracies in a description or price may occur. In the event of a material error we will contact you before the order proceeds, and we will not charge you an incorrect price without your agreement.

An order is subject to the product's availability in stock or our ability to produce it. If a product turns out to be unavailable after your order is placed, we will contact you to offer an alternative, a revised delivery date, or cancellation with a full refund.

3. Placing an order

Orders are placed through the shopping cart and checkout page. You will be asked for your full name, delivery address, phone number and email address.

Providing incorrect or incomplete details may prevent your order from being processed or your delivery from arriving. Responsibility for the accuracy of these details rests with the customer.

When you place your first order, an account is created for you on the site, allowing you to view your order history and update your details. Keeping your password secure is your responsibility.

An order confirmation is sent by email once payment has been received. This confirmation is not a tax invoice.

The Company may decline to approve an order, including where details are missing or incorrect, where the card issuer declines the charge, or where misuse of the site is suspected.

4. Prices and payment

Prices on the site are stated in new Israeli shekels (₪) and include VAT as required by law. The price shown on the product page and in the cart is the final price payable for the product, before shipping charges where these apply.

The Company may update prices from time to time. The binding price is the one displayed when your order was completed.

Payment is made by payment card, on our payment provider's secure page, to which you are redirected from the site. Card details are entered on the provider's page and are not stored on our servers.

An order is considered approved only once the payment provider has confirmed the charge. Until then the order is marked "pending", and payment can be completed from the order page.

Discount codes (coupons) are valid until the expiry date stated on them and cannot be combined or redeemed twice. If a coupon applied to your cart expires before the order is completed, the order will not go through and a message will be shown — we will never quietly charge the full price instead. A signup discount, where granted, is one-time and applies to a first order only, and does not combine with a coupon.

A tax invoice will be issued and sent as required by law.

5. Orders requiring prior approval

Some products and customisations do not go through immediate payment, but through a request for approval by our management or workshop:

  • Products marked "price on request" — any price shown is an estimate only and is not binding. The request is passed to management to agree a price.
  • Choosing a liturgical version (nusach) or edition outside the listed options (for example nusach "other") — the request is passed to the workshop to check availability.

No charge is made when such a request is submitted. We will come back to you with a price, a delivery time and confirmation of availability, and any charge will be made only after your express agreement.

6. Embossing and personalisation

Some products can be personalised with embossing — a name, a dedication or a logo — and you may also choose an embossing style (gold, sunken or raised) and a leather shade.

Embossing is executed exactly as entered on the order, including spelling, vowel points, spacing and abbreviations. Checking the wording before submitting the order is the customer's responsibility. We do not correct spelling errors once production has begun.

An embossed product is manufactured specially for the customer and cannot be returned or exchanged — see the returns section below.

7. Shipping and delivery

Estimated delivery is up to 20 business days from approval of the order and payment, as most products are handmade and made to order.

Free shipping on orders over ₪1500. Home delivery throughout Israel.

For orders involving special customisation or a request for approval, delivery time will be agreed with you once availability is confirmed and may vary.

Business days exclude Saturdays, Jewish holidays and holiday eves. Delays originating with the courier, from force majeure, or from circumstances outside the Company's control are not the Company's responsibility.

8. Returns, exchanges and cancellation

  • Products embossed with a logo or a name — cannot be exchanged or returned, as they are manufactured specially for the customer.
  • Products without embossing — may be sent back for exchange or return within 14 days of receiving the delivery. The product must be in its original packaging and in new condition. Approximately two days after the product is received at our warehouse, a credit towards a new purchase will be emailed to the customer.
  • Faulty products — must be sent back to the warehouse within 14 days of receiving the delivery, together with the invoice and an explanation of the problem. The product will be examined; if it is found to be faulty, the customer will be notified and the amount will be credited to the account from which the order was made.
  • Cancelling a transaction — notice of cancellation must be given within 14 days of the date the order was placed. A cancellation fee of 5% of the transaction value or ₪100, whichever is lower, will be deducted from the refund.

How to give notice

Notice of a return, exchange or cancellation should be given by phone or email using the contact details at the foot of this page, quoting your order number. The cost of return shipping to the warehouse is borne by the customer, unless the product is found to be faulty.

Nothing in this section derogates from consumer rights under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981, and the Consumer Protection (Cancellation of Transaction) Regulations, 5771-2010. In any conflict between these terms and the provisions of law, the law prevails.

9. Intellectual property

All content, images, designs and products appearing on the site are the exclusive property of the Company. No copying, reproduction, photographing, distribution or any commercial or other use of the site's content, in whole or in part, is permitted without the prior written consent of the site owners.

The trade marks, the name "Mehudar Jerusalem" and the logo are the property of the Company and may not be used without permission.

10. Liability and use of the site

The Company makes reasonable efforts to keep the site available and functioning, but does not undertake that it will operate continuously or without interruption. Interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control.

The Company's liability is limited to the product purchased and the amount paid for it. The Company will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of income, arising from use of the site or inability to use it.

The site may not be used for any unlawful purpose, nor may anyone attempt to breach its systems, run automated scans against it, or interfere with its proper operation.

Part II — Privacy Policy

11. Privacy policy — general

We respect your privacy and collect only the information needed to run the shop, fulfil orders and provide service. This part explains what information is collected, for what purpose, with whom it is shared and what your rights are.

You are under no legal obligation to provide this information, but without it an order cannot be completed and an account cannot be maintained.

12. What information is collected

The information collected is what you provide to us, together with operational information generated by use of the site:

  • Contact and order details — full name, delivery address, phone number and email address. Collected at signup or when ordering, and required to deliver the product and provide service.
  • Account details — your password, stored only as a one-way hash which we cannot read, together with your language preference and account type.
  • Order history — the products ordered, the options chosen (shade, nusach, embossing), amounts, payment status and the payment provider's reference. Retained as a record of the order and for reporting obligations.
  • Marketing consent — a record of whether you chose to receive marketing updates.
  • Operational information — server logs including IP address and request times, retained by our hosting provider for security and reliability purposes.

We do not collect or store payment card details. Card details are entered on the payment provider's page and never pass through our servers.

13. What the information is used for

  • Fulfilling your order, contacting you about it, and providing customer service.
  • Managing your customer account and displaying your order history.
  • Sending operational emails — order confirmation, password reset, acknowledgement of an enquiry, and a reminder about a cart left open.
  • Sending marketing updates — only to those who have consented.
  • Meeting legal obligations, including accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Securing the site and preventing misuse.

We do not carry out advertising profiling, we do not sell personal information, and we do not pass it to third parties for marketing purposes.

14. Who the information is shared with

Information is passed to the service providers we use to run the shop, and only to the extent needed for their role:

  • The payment provider — receives the details needed to process the charge and identify the transaction. Card details are given to it directly by you, on its own page.
  • The email provider — receives your email address and the content of the message, in order to send our operational and marketing emails on our behalf.
  • The hosting provider — hosts the site's database and files. Our servers are located outside Israel, so information is stored and processed outside the country as well.
  • The courier — receives the recipient's name, address and phone number in order to make the delivery.

We will also disclose information if and to the extent required by law, by court order, or in order to protect our rights.

15. How long information is kept

Order details and accounting information are retained for the period required by tax and accounting law. Account details are retained for as long as the account is active.

You may ask us to delete your account and personal information at any time; we will delete whatever we are not legally required to retain.

16. Information security

The site runs over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and the recognition cookie contains only an encrypted identifier with no personal details.

Access to the administration interface is limited to authorised staff accounts, and a customer can view only their own orders.

That said, no online system is entirely immune. We cannot guarantee absolute protection against intrusion, and we act with reasonable and accepted measures to protect the information.

17. Your rights in your information

Under the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981, you are entitled:

  • to inspect the personal information held about you;
  • to ask for the correction of information that is incorrect, incomplete or inaccurate. Some details can be updated yourself from the account page;
  • to ask for information to be deleted, subject to retention obligations under law;
  • to withdraw your consent to marketing communications at any time.

To exercise these rights, please use the contact details at the foot of this page. We will respond within a reasonable time.

18. Marketing communications

Marketing updates are sent only to those who have consented. Consent may be withdrawn at any time, either by notifying us or by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message.

Operational messages relating to the order itself (order confirmation, password reset, acknowledgement of an enquiry) are not marketing communications and will still be sent to those who have withdrawn marketing consent.

19. Cookies

The site uses only the cookies necessary for it to operate, and includes no advertising or tracking cookies. The full detail — which cookies, for what purpose and for how long — is set out on a separate page.

Read the full cookie policy

20. Children's privacy

The site is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you become aware that a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

21. Changes to these terms

The Company may update these terms from time to time. The binding version is the one appearing on the site when your order is placed, and the date of the latest update appears at the top of this page.

22. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and everything arising from them are governed exclusively by the laws of the State of Israel. Exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute is vested in the competent courts of the Jerusalem district.
