Accessibility Statement

Mehudar Jerusalem operates on the belief that the website should be accessible to the entire public — including people with disabilities. We regard accessibility as an integral part of the service we provide, and we invest ongoing effort to make the site comfortable, clear, and available to every visitor.

This statement details the site's level of accessibility, the adaptations made, the known limitations, and how to contact us if you encounter a problem.

The site conforms to the requirements of Israeli Standard SI 5568 at level AA, which is based on the international accessibility guidelines WCAG 2.0 of the W3C organization.

As of the date of this statement, comprehensive accessibility adaptations have been made to the site, and the process is ongoing. The current accessibility assessment is based on the team's own review. To complete conformance with the standard, a comprehensive accessibility audit by a certified accessibility specialist is planned, following which this statement will be updated.

• Standard semantic structure (header, nav, main, footer, section) with the main content area marked
• A "skip to main content" link at the top of every page, for quick keyboard navigation
• Full keyboard navigation for all links, buttons, and forms on the site
• A clear, visible focus indicator on every element that can be operated by keyboard
• Proper focus management in overlays (the cart drawer): focus trapping, closing with the Esc key, and restoring focus on close
• Text color contrast adapted to level AA
• Respecting the operating system's "reduce motion" preference (prefers-reduced-motion)
• Alternative text (alt) for content images; decorative images are marked so that screen readers skip them
• Hebrew and RTL declared at the document level (dir="rtl" lang="he")
• A consistent heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3) on every page
• Compatibility with modern browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari)

The site can be operated fully with the keyboard, without a mouse:

• Tab — move to the next element (link, button, form field); Shift + Tab — back to the previous element.
• Enter — activate the focused link or button.
• Space — activate a button and check/uncheck checkboxes.
• Arrow keys — move between options in select lists and form fields.
• Esc — close overlays (such as the cart drawer), restoring focus to the point from which they were opened.
• At the top of every page, the first press of Tab reveals the "skip to main content" link — pressing Enter jumps directly to the main content, bypassing the menu.
• The element currently in focus is marked with a clear outline, so you can always tell where you are on the site.

Despite our accessibility efforts, you may encounter parts of the site that are not fully accessible. These are the items known to us:

• Certified professional audit: A full accessibility audit by a certified accessibility specialist has not yet been carried out. Such an audit is planned, following which this statement will be updated.
• The purchase and payment process: The cart, checkout, and payment system is active and was built according to accessibility principles, but has not yet undergone a full end-to-end accessibility test with assistive technologies.
• Mouse hover effects: Some hover states change the hue to gold; we are reviewing and updating them so that they meet the required contrast in every state.

• The address of the page where you encountered the problem (URL)
• A short description of the problem — what you tried to do, and what did not work

We commit to reviewing every inquiry within two business days, and to responding to the sender with a solution or a timeframe for a fix.

This statement will be updated regularly as further adaptations are made, and after a professional audit is carried out by a certified accessibility specialist on behalf of the Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
